CLASSES
BALLET BASICS
Classes are designed for students who are just starting their ballet journey who have no previous experience or very limited previous experience. Classes will explore fundamental vocabulary while developing an understanding of basic steps, positions, and concepts that form the foundation of more advanced technique. Advance registration is strongly suggested as class size is limited. All classes are single class drop in.

BEGINNING BALLET
Classes are geared towards students with some previous ballet experience who benefit from a slower pace and while they further develop their ballet vocabulary. It is designed as a bridge between our Ballet Basics and Advanced Beginner classes. We recommend dancers have at least one year of previous ballet experience. Advance registration is strongly suggested as class size is limited. All classes are single class drop in.

ADVANCED BEGINNER
Classes are geared towards students who have previous ballet experience and are comfortable with foundational ballet vocabulary. This level may feel too fast paced for those with less than 2 years of previous experience. Advance registration is strongly suggested. All classes are single class drop in.

ADVANCED BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE BALLET Classes are geared towards students who have previous ballet experience and are comfortable with ballet vocabulary. This level may feel too fast paced for those with less than 3 years of previous experience. Advance registration is strongly suggested. All classes are single class drop in.

INTERMEDIATE BALLET Classes are geared towards students with previous experience who are familiar with ballet vocabulary and are comfortable stringing together more complex combinations. This level may feel too fast paced for those with less than 4 years of previous experience but we welcome all dancers who are looking to challenge themselves! Advance registration is strongly suggested. All classes are single class drop in.​​

SCHEDULE
Classes continue throughout the year, with some breaks for holidays and events. Please check back here for updates regarding closures. There will be no classes on July 14, 16, 25, or August 1.

Adult Intensive
CBA's annual Adult Intensive is a unique experience designed for the beginning/intermediate to intermediate dancer to delve deeper into their technique and artistry. This program culminates in an informal showing of work stage on or choreographed for participants.

Join us July 13-19, 2026! Full week and weekend only options are available.​​​

Adult Variations Class
CBA's Adult Variations Class is perfect for the adult dancer interested in challenging their artistry in new ways. Each 4-week session will focus on one variation from a classical ballet, allowing for refinement and improvement over time. Dancers must register in advance for each session. Don't miss this fun and challenging opportunity!
Winter, Spring, and Summer Sessions are available.
Adult Ensemble
CBA's Adult Ensemble is designed to give adult dancers the opportunity to rehearse and perform outside of technique classes. No audition is necessary but dancers must commit to regular attendance at rehearsals. Repertoire may include excerpts from classical ballets as well as new works created specifically for this group.

Floor Barre
New for the fall of 2026, CBA is excited to offer Adult Floor Barre classes! Each 4-week session will focus on building strength, flexibility, and control while deepening understanding of body alignment and mechanics. This class is taken lying on the floor, providing a great, low impact way to improve foundational technique and coordination.

Adult Winter Workshop
CBA's Adult Winter Workshop is designed for adult dancers with previous experience, and is a wonderful opportunity to go more in-depth into components of class and gain additional tools and information to take into the new year. Each day includes ballet class followed by an afternoon of classes focused on specific technique and artistry areas.

Pointe Private Lessons
Pointe semi-private lessons are held in small groups on Thursdays after the Adult Division ballet class. These are offered by and at the discretion of the faculty. Payment should be made directly to the instructor. If interested, please let the faculty member know before ballet class begins.
ADULT DIVISION POLICIES
​​Dress Code: Dancers should wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in and does not hinder proper technique or body placement. ​Ballet shoes are recommended.
​
Age Requirement: Classes are open to those ages 18 and up. Exceptions may be made for high school age students with advance permission from CBA.
Illness Policy: For the health and safety of our students, staff, and visitors, as well as those in the communities we serve, we ask that you stay home if you are feeling unwell and experiencing symptoms such as, but not limited to, fever, coughing, sneezing, vomiting, or other respiratory conditions.

Media Policy: The taking of personal videos and photographs during Adult Division classes and programs is not permitted unless express consent is given by CBA and all other participating individuals.
​
​
Studio Usage Policy: Studio space is reserved for scheduled classes and programs. Use outside of class time is not permitted unless the studio is rented or prior approval is given.
​
Cancellation Policy: If a student has prepaid for a class and can no longer attend, they must notify CBA at least 1 hour prior to the start of that class if they would like to request a credit. If a credit is issued, it will be valid for 6 months from that date.

Tuition is non-refundable. All payments should be made directly to CBA by Zelle to info@chicagoballetarts.org or in person by cash or check. Credit card payments are also accepted (processing fees apply).
